METHOD OF TREATING FALSE JOINTS OF LONG BONES Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B17/56 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly traumatology. A false joint region is surgically treated with exposure of bone-marrow canals of injured bone fragments. An end of a compressed extending rod is introduced inside the bone-marrow canal of one of the fragments. Longitudinal slots are formed in the fragments at 0.5-3.0 cm from their ends within the false joint. The slots are inclined 45° to stiffening ribs of the extending rod. A mesh of through oblique canals fanning from the false joint region and joined with the longitudinal slots and bone-marrow canals is formed from an end surface of the fragments. A free end of the extending rod is introduced in the bone-marrow canal of the second fragment. The fragments are brought together to full contact. The rod is extended to a maximum diameter and tight pressure to walls of the bone-marrow canals of the fragments, with the bone marrow transplantable from the fragments through the longitudinal slots within the false joint.

EFFECT: method provides preserved lengths of the sclerosed fragment ends, stimulated and accelerated regeneration processes with normalised mineral density of the injured bone.
