FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: proposed injector comprises cylindrical case, needle with its head to make valve on seat arranged on cylindrical case end, and drive with electrically active material. Said drive incorporates rod to actuate valve opening head, weight on rod extension, and means to spring-load needle and weight to rod opposite ends. Coaxial cylindrical rod-like needle may fall in axial resonance when affected by drive axial pulses at preset excitation frequency to superimpose head oscillation on needle. Method of control consists in feeding control signal to drive for fuel injection period, said signal having continuous and intermittent components on excitation frequency to fall needle in resonance.
EFFECT: accurate control over valve head position with good response time, good operation of electrically active element.
