SUBSTANCE: device implementing the method includes a scanning unit and a transmit-receive unit located on the mobile site. The scanning unit includes a master oscillator, a power amplifier, a circulator, a horn transmitting-receiving antenna, two high-frequency amplifiers, a phase detector, a computer, a generator of pseudorandom sequence (PRS), a phase manipulator, two correlators, two adjustable delay units, four multipliers, two low-pass filters, two extremal controls, a range indicator, two-phase dividers by two, two narrow-band filters, a phase meter, a receiving antenna and an angle indicator interconnected in some way. The transmit-receive unit contains a piezo-crystal, a microstrip antenna, two comb electrode systems, tires and a set of reflectors.

EFFECT: enhanced functionality of the method and the device for its implementation by accurately determining the direction to the detected object and the distance to its location.
