SUBSTANCE: process, realised by apparatus for providing position information, includes the following steps: obtaining a received positioning signal (S610), specifying the source of the positioning signal (S612), obtaining, when the positioning signal source is outside a building, a navigation message which is included in the positioning signal (S622), carrying out a process for calculating the position based on signal (S624), obtaining, when the positioning signal is inside a building, message data from the positioning signal (S630), obtaining coordinate values from data (S632) and displaying the position information based on the coordinate values (S650).

EFFECT: providing position information without loss of accuracy even in places beyond the reach of satellite radio signals, avoiding the need for synchronisation with the satellite.
