SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communications and can be used to facilitate the assessment of a user's position in wireless networks. Method for scheduling the transmission of the reference signals of the observed arrival time difference (OTDOA) in the first base station includes receiving, by the first base station, system synchronization information of the second base station, transmitting to the second base station the system timing information of the first base station, scheduling the transmission of the OTDOA reference signals using the system timing information of the first base station and system timing information of the second base station, the transmission being scheduled such that the transmission of the OTDOA reference signals from the first and second base stations overlaps in time and the OTDOA reference signals from the first and second base stations are different, and signaling to the wireless terminal a measurement pattern, OTDOA reference signals from the first and second base stations.

EFFECT: technical result is the optimization of signal quality.
