SUBSTANCE: locomotive controller has an input device, a display and a processor for controlling said display and receiving input signals from said input device. Software in the processor determines and controls the display to show a location of a train on a track and indication of the location on the track of stopping distances during emergency braking, full service brake application or during controlled braking in at least one of the versions. Creep control is also provided.
EFFECT: optimisation of train control.
