FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is train braking system. Brake system comprises: interface for receiving input from train driver using automatic brake handle, independent brake handle and dynamic brake handle; a controller connected to an interface and having a first module for issuing a command to apply a dynamic brake, a second module for issuing a command for applying an independent brake and a third module for issuing a command to apply automatic train brakes. At that, controller is programmed to stop application of automatic brake initiated by train driver, and to issue command for application of independent brake or application of dynamic brake, or their combination, to compensate for shortcomings from the discontinued use of the automatic brake and to achieve at least one predetermined criterion. Disclosed also is a method of controlling train braking system.
EFFECT: higher safety is achieved.
