FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce commercial-grade pyrogenic silicon dioxide during industrial recycling of silicon-containing wastes. To realise the method, a stream of components is fed into the reactor space through a mutichannel coaxial mixer, said components forming a hydrolysis flame; dispersed liquid and gaseous wastes from trichlorosilane production mainly containing chlorosilane and hydrogen gas with chlorosilane impurities are fed, respectively. The gaseous waste are used to disperse liquid wastes and/or form a circular pilot flame. Flame hydrolysis of the dispersed wastes leads to obtaining flue gases containing pyrogenic silicon dioxide. The apparatus for processing silicon-containing wastes through flame hydrolysis has a cylinder-conic housing, a cover lying on the cylindrical part of the housing, a multichannel jet mixer mounted at the centre of the cover, a flame cooling apparatus mounted on the periphery of the surface of the cover relative the mixer, a pipe for outlet of the formed flue gases which is fitted at the top of the cone of the conical part of the housing.
EFFECT: invention provides a universal technique which enables efficient processing of liquid and gaseous silicon-containing wastes.
