FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in synthesis of finely dispersed powder of silicon dioxide by burning liquid silicon-containing compounds in a flame of combustion gases. The method of producing silicon dioxide involves hydrolysis of silicon-containing liquids in a hydrogen medium in the presence of heated air, which is fed into the combustion zone through the centre channel of a burner at the speed of sound. The reactor consists of a horizontal cylindrical housing 1, a burner 2, which includes a channel 14 and an annular channel 15, a unit for controlling and letting in reacting flows, a flame stabiliser, an inlet pipe for mixture of exhaust gases and silicon dioxide 16. The unit for controlling and letting in reacting flows has a channel 3 which carries liquid silicon-containing compounds, a centre channel 4 which carries air, a channel 5 which carries hydrogen and a channel 6 which carries nitrogen. The flame stabiliser is placed coaxially with the burner and is made from two pipes: an outer pipe 7, which is made in form of a de Laval nozzle and consists of a confuser 9 and a diffuser 10 with perforations 13, and an inner pipe 8. The diffuser 10 has a jacket which is divided into two sections 11 and 12. The stabiliser in the assembly and its inner pipe 8 are made with possibility of displacement on a common axis.

EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of the synthesis process and quality of silicon dioxide.
