SUBSTANCE: method includes production of an initial image, an estimate image by low-frequency filtration of the initial image, and also building a noise image as the difference between the initial and estimate image; deletion of noise image pixel values that correspond to sharp images in the initial image; breakdown of the estimate image intensity range into intervals; accumulation of estimate noise image pixel values; calculation of interval estimates of noise dispersion using accumulated pixel values; specification of interval estimates of dispersion, deletion of noise image pixel values that correspond to sharp changes in the initial image, by morphological identification of noise image pixel values that correspond to borders on the initial image; and production of a function of noise dependence on signal intensity.

EFFECT: higher quality of digital images noise estimation.
