FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to the area of medicine, namely to the area of ophthalmology, and can be used for prediction of development of posterior aggressive retinopathy in premature infants. The mass of an infant and its gestational age at the moment of birth are determined. No earlier than once a week the dopplerographic scan of blood flow in anterior cerebral artery in the period from second to fourth week of life is predicted. The resistance index of anterior cerebral artery is calculated. The development of posterior aggressive retinopathy of premature infants is predicted when the value of resistance index of anterior cerebral artery is more than 0.83 no less than in two measurements, and one of the following signs is present: mass of a child is 900 g or less, gestation age on the moment of birth is 26 weeks or less.

EFFECT: simplicity and universality of the method due to detection of the most prognostically significant factors of posterior aggressive retinopathy development in the first weeks of the child life; timely detection of risk groups for development of posterior aggressive retinopathy of premature infants; provided for possibility of timely preventive measures.
