METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF RETINOPATHY OF PREMATURITY Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC A61B5/00 A61B3/12 G01N33/48

Abstract RU 2582049 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict development of retinopathy of prematurity. Method comprises performing indirect ophthalmoscopy fundus under medical mydriasis. Ophthalmoscopy is performed in infants born before 35 weeks gestational age with weight of up to 2,000 g, 1 time in 14 days, starting at 30 weeks of gestational age. Capillary blood is sampled for gas analysis for content of carbon dioxide and oxygen before survey. If any signs of retinal arteriospasm and levels of oxygen partial pressure below 45 mmHg and carbon dioxide - above 42 mmHg, development of retinopathy of prematurity is predicted.

EFFECT: method allows for prediction of development of retinopathy of prematurity, time to identify risk and to take preventive and therapeutic measures, as well as reduce number of adverse outcomes by identifying most significant prognostic factors for retinopathy of prematurity after 30 weeks gestational age.
