FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the method of mercaptan compound division from rich caustic flow. It can be used to divide disulfide oil produced during oxidation of used-up caustic solution which was used to remove sulphur contaminants from light hydrocarbons. The method includes feeding of rich caustic flow containing mercaptan compounds into the oxidation machine where the mercaptan compound is oxidized into the disulfide oil (DSO) by oxygen treatment, and the mixture of DSO and caustic is produced. The mixture is fed in one flow into the division device to contact with a cord of vertical fibers. Due to the fact that mixture flows down along the fibers the mixture is divided and two separate layers of liquid occur in collection zone.

EFFECT: reduction of time necessary for treatment in dividing of immiscible liquids.
