FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in formation of pipes aimed at transportation of liquids and gases. orbital holder (2) is included into the pipe butt welding device (C, C') including at least one welding trolley (1) where at least one welding head (6) is installed which shall have at least one welding burner. Orbital holder includes at least two elements in the form of ring segments surrounding welded pipes (C, C') and made with possibility to connect them with each other at the welding stage and disconnect them. Orbital holder (2, 7) is made to have a possibility of linear movement along the formed pipeline and welding device positioning along the butt plane between the pipes welded (C, C'). At least two ring segments are made to have possibility to disconnect them on the directions in the plane normally crossing the axis plane of connected pipes and/or possibility to turn them into position to move along the pipes.
EFFECT: maximum precision of welding operations, including those when there are obstacles at the outer surface of pipes.
