SUBSTANCE: semicircular deviation is compensated at one magnetic heading comprising establishing the shield factor λ of shielding the horizontal component of the Earth's magnetic field density by the vessel elements, measurement of the horizontal component H of the Earth's magnetic field density ashore, calculating the λH force, determining the vessel magnetic heading K and semicircular deviation removal at one magnetic heading with the magnets of the normally carried semicircular deviation compensator. The direct-axis flux and the quadrature-axis flux of the Earth's and the vessel's magnetic field density is measured with the help of a magnetometer and a magnetometer sensor holder that provides for sensor placement in the magnetic compass binnacle in place of the dismantled normally carried compass bowl.
EFFECT: enhanced measurement precision.
