FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in hammer shops of metallurgical and machine building plants. Semi-finished product is produced from initial cylindrical billet in two steps by hot die forging. Billet overall dimensions are varied by upsetting to change said overall dimensions so that height is reduced and diameters are increased. Then, cup wall and bottom are made. Upsetting is performed at convex and concave hammers to produce convex and concave taper surfaces on opposite sides of upset billet. Prior to every upsetting step, billet concave surface is laid on concave hammer surface. Before and after final step, dimensions of semi-finished product are selected from cited relationship. Produced semi-finished product is subjected to thermal and mechanical processing.
EFFECT: optimum properties of articles made from semi-finished product.
