SUBSTANCE: proposed method and device use a mobility server (130) to add to mobility control operations of a regular mobile communication switching circuit (MSC) (126). The mobility server (130) receives mobility messages from a wireless terminal (160) and updates a location register (128) in response to received mobility messages. According to one version of realisation, the server (130) has a predetermined network address, such as a telephone number, an IP-address, etc. The wireless terminal (160) sends mobility messages as messages of the user plane to the pre-determined network address along the traffic data channel. In one version of the realisation method the mobility messages indicate unavoidable loss of basic station signals suitable for use on the identified wireless terminal (160). For this version of realisation the mobility server (130) may identify a satellite beam associated with location of the wireless terminal, on the basis of the received mobility messages, and accordingly update the location register (128).
EFFECT: invention provides for support of wireless standards, in which the split message is not used.
