FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing cyclic butadiene-1,3 dimers, and specifically 4-vinylcyclohexene-1 and cyclooctadiene-1,4 via thermal dimerisation of butadiene in gaseous phase. The method is realised in an inert gas atmosphere at high temperature in the presence of a gum inhibitor. Dimerisation of butadiene-1,3 takes place at atmospheric pressure in the presence of water vapour containing hydrazine, which is a gum inhibitor, in amount of (0.1-1.0) wt %, with weight excess of water vapour: butadiene = (1-3):1.
EFFECT: method is simple and enables to increase efficiency of the process as well as selectivity thereof.
