FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: primary products used in the disclosed method of producing organosilsesquioxanes with a cubic structure are trifunctional organochlorosilanes or mixture thereof with tetrafunctional chlorosilane, with molar ratio 1:≤1, which are first etherified with lower aliphatic alcohols C1-C3 in amount of 1.0-1.1 mol alcohol per 1 g-atom of chlorine in chlorosilanes in boiling conditions. The reaction mixture is then diluted with 1.14-2.90 mol alcohol per 1 g-atom of alkoxy groups and hydrolysed with 0.51-0.52 mol water while boiling the reaction mixture for 2.5-4.0 hours. The raw material used is secondary di-, tri- and tetrachlorosilanes from chemical and metallurgical chloride production of metals and chemical production of organochlorosilanes.
EFFECT: simple technology and high output of polyhedral organosilsesquioxanes, while simultaneously trapping the formed hydrogen chloride gas.
