FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: first correlation is performed over received samples to acquire a first time-division multiplexed (TDM) pilot consisting of at least one copy of a first pilot sequence, wherein the first pilot sequence is one of a set of available pilot sequences for the first TDM pilot. If the first TDM pilot is acquired, second correlation is performed over received samples to acquire a second TDM pilot consisting of at least one copy of a second pilot sequence, wherein the second pilot sequence is one of a set of second pilot sequences associated with the first pilot sequence, wherein each available pilot sequence is associated with another set of second pilot sequences, wherein the first and second TDM pilots are transmitted over different time intervals.
EFFECT: fewer resources required for signal acquisition.
