SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of gunpowder, particularly phlegmatisation of granular pyroxylin powder, spherical single- and double-base powder used in cartridges of small arms and small-calibre artillery. The method for water-dispersion phlegmatisation of gunpowder involves treatment of the gunpowder with a phlegmatising agent, where gunpowder and then the phlegmatising agent at 20-30°C are fed into a reactor with water or 5.0-40.0 vol. % aqueous solution of a water-soluble solvent, where the phlegmatising agent used is in form of substances with melting point higher than the boiling point of water of 100°C, where said substances are fed in form of 10-50 vol. % solutions in water-soluble solvents, and the gunpowder is treated while stirring at temperature 30-70°C, and temperature is then raised to 55-95°C and treatment continues for 30-90 minutes, the phlegmatising agent is added in amount of 0.5-4.0 wt % with respect to one weight part of gunpowder and 0.25 wt % diphenylamine is added.

EFFECT: water-dispersion phlegmatisation of gunpowder with standard phlegmatising agents with melting point higher than 100°C, eg, camphor, centralite No2 and without preliminary preparation of aqueous emulsions of the phlegmatising agent.
