FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for direct coal liquefaction involves catalytic hydrogenation of coal. The hydrogenation products are separated into a vapour-gas mixture and process residue - sludge. The sludge is separated into liquid products and a solid residue and the solid residue is burnt in order to regenerate the catalyst. Flue-ash from the solid residue burning process is trapped. The catalyst added to the initial coal is an emulsion of aqueous solutions of cobalt and ammonium salts of thiomolybdic acid in a liquid hydrocarbon fraction with given boiling point, which is mixed with coal in weight ratio 1:1 until achieving total content of said metals of 0.005-0.03 wt % in terms of the processed coal. After trapping, the flue-ash is treated to transfer Mo and Co into the solution, which are then used as a catalyst precursor for hydrogenation of the new portion of coal. Elementary sulphur is added in the required amount until achieving total sulphur content in the coal of not less than 2.5 wt %.
EFFECT: reduction of initial concentration of Mo through partial replacement thereof with Co, as well as high catalyst activity.
