FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves plotting current versus voltage curves of thiol compounds using a glassy-carbon electrode at potential -0.4 V relative a saturated silver chloride electrode with direct current form of potential at a rate of 0.05 V/s, and pH of the borate buffer solution equal to 9.18. The determined content of thiol compounds ranges from 1.0·10-9 mol/l to 2.0·10-8 mol/l. The invention can be used as a test for the effect of heavy metals, which enables to assess the state of the environment based on content of SH-groups in proteins.
EFFECT: high sensitivity and rapidness of determining total content of thiol antioxidants in plant material.
