SUBSTANCE: disclosure of various methods and wireless communication devices to support Radio Line Control (RLC) parameters reconfiguration. Radio Resources Control (RRC) configuration message is generated, which indicates that RLC unit in Wireless Transmission/Receive Unit (WTRU) or Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) must be reconfigured from support of RLC Protocol Data Units (PDU) of flexible size to support of RLC PDUs of fixed size. If in RRC reconfiguration message there is data entry "Unidirectional repeated RLC establishment", then in RLC unit, subunit of receiving side only is reestablished. Otherwise, both subunit of receiving side and subunit of transmitting side is reestablished. RLC PDUs of flexible size may be discarded, and the message indicating discarded RLC PDUs of flexible size may be transmitted. PDUs of flexible size can be modified to correspond set of predefined sizes.
EFFECT: lower transmission quality losses.
