SUBSTANCE: when flexible sizes of packet data units (PDU) of radio communication link control (RLC) protocol are configured by upper levels radio network controller (RNC)/Node B stream control, RLC stream control, state reports and polling mechanisms are configured with possibility to use metrics based on bytes count to prevent potential buffer underflows in Node B and buffer overflows in RNC. Suggested improvements for RLC are applied to data exchange both by upstream and downstream communication lines.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of processing variable size packet data units of radio communication link control protocol in wireless communication systems.
