FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely ophthalmology and represents a method for evaluating a functional reserve of retinal neuroepithelium and predicting a visual dynamics after revasculariszation of eyeball. A spatial contrast visual sensitivity is evaluated by visocontrastoperimetry prior to and after two-minute finger compression of superficial temporal artery. A degree of quantitative contrast sensitivity gain in percents prior to and after compression of superficial temporal artery is expressed as a visocontrastoperimetric coefficient. If the coefficient is 25% and more, the test is considered to be positive, and a high probability of improving visual functions and stabilising a pathological process ensured by surgical management are predicted.
EFFECT: method provides accurately determining indications for surgeries for the purpose of improving hemodynamics and metabolism of retina and visual nerve on an eyeball.
