FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of catalysts on stable high-purity articles made from pyrogenic metal oxides selected from the group including SixOy and CexOy without adding binders. Proposed method consists in that (I) at least one pyrogenic metal oxide is slurried in water, (II) metal oxide is activated by slurrying with the help of dispersant and/or wet milling, (III) suspension is coagulated to produce pasty mass, (IV) coagulated suspension is processed into molded article, (V) moulded article is dried, (VI) moulded article is calcinated, and (VII) moulded article is converted into active catalyst by applying one or several catalytically active precursor compounds and/or one or several promoter compounds to be converted into one or several catalytically active compounds.
EFFECT: reduced bulk density, higher strength, selectivity and activity.
