FIELD: organic synthesis catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention provides catalyst for synthesis of vinyl acetate via reaction of ethylene with oxygen and acetic acid, which catalyst comprises porous support with catalytic amounts of palladium metal, copper, and gold deposited on the porous surface thereof. Preparation of catalyst consists in impregnation containing on its porous surface catalytically effective amounts of preliminarily reduced palladium and copper with potassium aurate solution followed by reduction of aurate into catalytically effective amounts of gold metal. Alternatively, support can be first brought into contact with gold and then with palladium/copper complexes. EFFECT: increased yield of vinyl acetate due lo lowered selectivity of catalyst respecting carbon dioxide and heavy fractions. 26 cl, 1 tbl, 13 ex
