FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely orthopaedics, traumatology, paediatric surgery, and is applicable for evaluating torsion changes of a proximal femoral bone in children. It involves ultrasound examination of a hip joint with using a linear sensor 8.0-12.0 MHz. A contour of a head, a metaphysis and a portion of a shaft of femur is described. Pathological torsion changes are diagnosed if observing the discontinuous contour within a neck-shaft transition. Ante- and retrotorsion angles are measured by tracing an angle formed by two lines on an ultrasound pattern. The point A found in the centre of a whirlbone is marked. The point B is taken for a start position of the femoral contour discontinuity. The point C is an end point of the femoral contour discontinuity. The line AB and AC are drawn. An angle formed by these lines is the ante- or retrotorsion angle.

EFFECT: method ensures the non-invasive, instant and precise evaluation of the torsion changes found in the proximal femoral bone, the typing of the torsion changes - ante- and retrotorsion with using reliable criteria; provides the direct, but not mediated determination of the ante- or retrotorsion angle.
