METHOD FOR TREATING FEMUR HEAD EPIPHYSIS DEFECT IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking graft from anterosuperior spine of iliac bone with underlying bone tissue on feeding pedicel produced from muscle tending broad fascia of the femur at the first operation stage. It is carried over to the prepared bed of corresponding shape on the end face of the femur neck and wire transfixation is carried out. Hip joint load is released by means of Ilizarov apparatus in the position of exterior rotation and in lateral position of the femur. The Ilizarov apparatus is removed, muscle tending the broad fascia of the femur is dissected from the transferred apophysis 3-4 months later at the second stage of the operation. The muscle is sutured to the place of its anatomical attachment. Wires fixing the graft are removed and the so created head is set into the cotyloid cavity.
