FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical control of chemical composition of material and products made from dysprosium titanate (Dy2O3·TiO2), dysprosium hafnate (nDy2O3·mHfO2) and mixtures thereof. The method of determining weight concentration of basic and trace elements in materials and products containing dysprosium titanate (Dy2O3·TiO2), dysprosium hafnate (nDy2O3-mHfO2) or mixtures thereof through inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy involves collecting and decomposing a sample. The method also involves plotting calibration curves for the analysed elements and determining concentration of the analysed elements. The sample is decomposed by fusing with a boron-containing fusing agent, after which the melt is dissolved in aqueous nitric acid solution. Weight concentration of trace elements is determined at sample concentration in the solution of 1000-1300 mg/l, and weight concentration of basic elements is determined at sample concentration in the solution of 0.5-100 mg/l. Before decomposition, the sample is ground to particle size not more than 50 mcm, and fusion is carried out using a fusing agent: sodium tetraborate, lithium tetraborate, lithium metaborate or mixture thereof.
EFFECT: possibility of simultaneous multi-element determination of macro- and micro-components, high accuracy of results of measuring weight concentration of controlled elements in materials and products made from dysprosium titanate, dysprosium hafnate and mixtures thereof using a spectral method for analytical control.
