FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing fine powder of dysprosium titanate for absorbing neutrons and can be used in control rods of nuclear reactors. Method involves production of powder of dysprosium titanate by mechanical activation of mixture of components - titanium dioxide - TiO2 and dysprosium oxide - Dy2O3, taken in equimolar ratio, in a planetary ball mill in atmosphere of argon. Method includes production of composite powder by mechanical activation of a mixture of dysprosium and titanium oxides, taken in equimolar ratio, in planetary ball mill in atmosphere of argon with rotational speed of planetary disc - 100-900 rpm, drum rotational speed - 1,000-2,400 rpm, with ratio to weight of balls to weight of mixture - 45:1 in an argon atmosphere at P=3-5 atm for 20-60 minutes.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and energy saving during manufacture of chemically active nano-dispersed powders of dysprosium titanate of stable composition, increasing its density after vibration compaction, reducing synthesis temperature and time.
