FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device has a single-frequency continuous laser, a receiving lens whose receiving channel employs a photodetector matrix connected to a multichannel unit for processing received signals. Laser light is directed onto any area on the sea surface and part of it also acts on the photodetector matrix. Each channel of the multichannel data processing unit after a channel amplifier, an amplitude detector and a threshold device with a minimum-controlled threshold, includes a channel storage device which stores the duration of the received signal and the beginning of the recorded time interval over which the received signal exists, and also maps these time parameters in a binary code. Outputs of the channel storage devices are linked to the interface of a personal computer with a recording display which is connected to a timer, where the output of the timer is connected to additional inputs of the channel storage devices.
EFFECT: possibility of establishing statistics of group flare reflections of laser light by the sea surface in different sea surface conditions from calm to gale.
