SUBSTANCE: voltage source converter VSC contains in each gate one first solid-state device (24) of latching type with characteristic of the first high level voltage locking and connected with it in parallel the series connection of multiple second solid-state devices (25-29) of latching type with characteristic of the second, lower level voltage locking. Converter control scheme (23) is configured to switch the gate in conductive state starting from forward-biased state of the gate locking by means of controlling the second solid-state devices, which will be switched on, and then by means of the first solid-state devices which will be switched on with delay, and at the end of conducting state - to switch off the first solid-state device before switching off the second solid-state devices.
EFFECT: reducing power losses.
