Switching module (38) intended for usage in DC chopper of medium or high voltage or DC limiter comprises at least one power semiconductor switching element (1, 2), gate unit (31) designed to switch on and off at least one power semiconductor switching element respectively against the switching control signal, and energy-storage capacitor (25) designed to deliver power to input (29) of power supply unit supplying the gate unit. The switching module comprises auxiliary means (20) for power conversion, which is designed to receive optical power signal, to convert optical power signal to electrical power signal and to deliver electrical power signal to energy-storage capacitor (25).
