FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of neutralising effect of sulphur when producing coke components from carbon-containing material which contains heavy sulphur residues from oil refining involves feeding a reactant - alkali-earth metal oxide or alkali-earth metal carbonate or alkali-earth metal hydroxide, preheating the carbon-containing material to temperature 150-500°C followed by coking, wherein the amount of the reactant is equal to 0.1-1.7% for each percent of sulphur content in the heavy oil refining residues.
EFFECT: partial or complete neutralisation of the harmful effect of sulphur when coking material with high content of sulphur, which widens the field of use of the disclosed method compared to existing methods.
