FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: using Fresnel pre-stack techniques, two seismic data volumes are obtained: migrated reflected wave volume (reflectors) and diffraction wave volume (diffractors). The diffractor volume is obtained through subtraction and subsequent focusing of scattered waves. Amplitude and spectral attributes of the seismic field are calculated from the diffractor volume. A three-dimensional model of scattering objects of the geologic environment (acoustic heterogeneity index volume) is obtained from integral amplitude characteristics. Through sequential interpretation of the migrated reflector volume and the acoustic heterogeneity index volume, the distribution of instantaneous amplitude values of scattered waves on the section of the volume in intervals corresponding to the investigated productive levels of the geologic section is obtained. The distribution of amplitude values of scattered waves is classified according to values in accordance with the field-geophysical data. Objects with maximum acoustic heterogeneity index values, which correspond to zones of development of fissured-cavernous collectors are selected. The potential for drilling exploration and production wells is estimated on the selected objects.
