METHOD OF DETERMINING FRACTURE POROSITY OF ROCKS Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC G01V1/28 G01V1/30 G01N15/08

Abstract RU 2732035 C1

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oil and gas industry, in particular to seismic methods for determination of formation areas with different permeability. Disclosed method of determining fracture porosity of rocks involves forming a set of samples of analyzed rock, experimental determination of total fractional porosity of each of said samples in atmospheric conditions, also experimental determination of seismic waves propagation speed and common fracture porosity in samples of analyzed rock in conditions simulating formation conditions, measurement of seismic wave propagation speed in the analyzed rock and calculation using the obtained data. Initiation of seismic waves is carried out from a seismic well in which reflected waves are recorded to determine boundaries of zones with different fracture porosity, waves attenuation to determine speed and direction of their propagation are determined by seismic sensors located in azimuth relative to seismic well in recording wells. Calculated stratigraphic boundaries of the zones are determined using a common depth point method — CDPM 2D and/or 3D, with density of seismic profiles of at least 2 line km/km2. To specify profile of zones with crack porosity, at least by 20 % larger than total fracture porosity in these zones through additional seismic well with registration of reflected waves, and in additional recording wells wave attenuation parameters are measured with subsequent calculation and correction of boundaries and location of selected zone.

EFFECT: high accuracy of obtained results owing to use of overlapping values of reflected waves and damped waves, as well as duplication of measurements for areas of the formation with high porosity of rocks.
