FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to loose material feed into material transfer system accompanied by separation of lumps from loose material. Proposed feeder comprises cylindrical housing with inlet channel, first and second discharge channels, rotor fitted in said housing and furnished with vaned impeller, its vanes being aligned with inlet channel in operation, first and second discharge channels, rotor drive and sorting sieve arranged in first inlet channel to prevent discharge of lumps from first discharge channel, and rod grid. Every chamber of set arranged along the circle may be aligned with said inlet channel to receive loose and lumpy material and turn in cylindrical housing to be aligned with first inlet channel to discharge loose material therefrom, and to turn in said housing to be aligned with second discharge channel after alignment with first inlet channel to discharge lumps. Proposed method comprises feeding loose materials and lumps to rotary feeder, revolving aforesaid chambers therein past inlet channel so that to allow loose material and lumps to get into said chamber, separating loose material and lumps, discharging loose material via first discharge channel and lumps via second discharge channel.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of feed, separation and discharge.
