FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: aircraft refuelling apparatus (10) has a fuel supply line (14), at least one pressure sensor (26) for measuring pressure in the aircraft fuel tank system (12), an electronic control unit (ECU) for processing the pressure sensor (26) signal and for generating an emergency disconnection signal and an emergency disconnection device. In the method, fuel is fed into the aircraft fuel tank system (12) through the fuel supply line (14) and pressure in the aircraft fuel tank system (12) is measured. The pressure sensor (26) signal is processed using the ECU and an emergency disconnection signal is generated if pressure in the aircraft fuel tank system (12) is higher than a first preset level. The emergency disconnection device (24) is controlled by the ECU so as to cut off fuel supply into the aircraft fuel tank system (12) in response to the emergency disconnection signal from the ECU.
EFFECT: safer air-tightness testing of fuel tanks.
