FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: power signal of neutron flux sensors is processed, while the power signal is sent to an inlet of a digital reactimeter, and reactivity is calculated by change of the power signal. The output signal of the reactimeter is processed with the help of a microprocessor, at the same time the difference is calculated between reactivity values serial in time. After this difference reaches the value that does not exceed the preset value, the established period of the nuclear reactor is calculated using the formula of "inverted hours".
EFFECT: false actuations of an emergency protection by period are eliminated, due to accelerated introduction of a signal of an emergency protection by a nuclear reactor period, the probability of possible negative effects during emergencies at a nuclear reactor is minimised.
