FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention involves determining and establishing initial dimensions of the field of vision of a sighting device, superimposing said field with the tracking object and holding in said position for a given period of time. The disclosed method is characterised by that, a stabilised line of sight is formed and adjusted in the initial state with the optical axis of the sighting device of the tracking apparatus; the direction and angular drift speed of the stabilised line of sight are determined; said line is moved with the same speed in the opposite direction; said line is superimposed with the sighting point on the tracking object; as the sighting device manoeuvres, its banking angle and elevation angle of the sighting line are determined; the deviation angle of the sighting line from a given position is determined and the sighting line is moved in the opposite direction by said angle; if the tracking object moves with angular speed close to constant, the direction and value of that speed are measured and recorded; the sighting line is moved in the same direction and with the same angular speed; the sighting index is illuminated; the brightness and colour of its illumination are varied until achieving optimum contrast with the tracking object; the field of vision is then reduced.
EFFECT: high noise immunity and accuracy of viewing.
