FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: leakage of a first gas or vapour is detected by detecting change in a physical property of a second gas or vapour using a leak detector, comprising at least one sensor for detecting change in a physical property of the second gas or vapour, wherein the sensor has a radiation source and apparatus for measuring radiation absorption by the second gas or vapour.
EFFECT: possibility of continuous monitoring of any leaking gaseous material using one universal leak detector.
