FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a system for detecting presence of propellant gas a in gaseous sample using laser radiation, in particular, in range from 3.30 to 3.5 mcm and can be used for leakage check of propellant containers. Propellant can be propane, n-butane, isobutane, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ether, HFA 134a, HFA 227 or any other propellant, exhibiting absorption in required wavelength range. Presence of a propellant is detected by comparing amplitude of test pulse with amplitude of reference radiation pulses.
EFFECT: technical result is high rate and accuracy of detecting leaks.
