FIELD: instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device to separate optic fibre in the form of a hand tool. The device comprises a fixing mechanism to fix a fixing element to an optic fibre and a separation mechanism to separate optic fibre. The fixing element may be a connection coupling, and a fixing element may be attached on the fibre so that the fibre stretches through the fixing element. The separation mechanism separates the fibre, when the fixing element is fixed on the fibre. The device provides for automatic preset positioning and/or alignment of the end surface of the separated fibre relative to the fixing element. Fixtures are necessary to retain the fibre and the fixing element during a process operation of separation, and also to retain the connector's body as the fixing element is inserted with the separated fibre into the connector in the required orientation.
EFFECT: higher quality and matched joints of optic fibre.
