SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of recording information into a multilayer recording medium. In the method, information is uniformly distributed on layers in form of blocks having a predetermined information storage place. Information is recorded alternately in at least two information layers. The size of these blocks can be flexible and set according to a method or read from the recording medium. The size of the block for carrying a predetermined volume of information is set depending on the method through which information to be stored is transmitted. The size can also depend on the type of application transmitting said information.

EFFECT: shorter time required for closing a session and/or finalising a disc while preserving compatibility of the recording medium with the DVD-ROM standard.
