FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: spectral lamp for atomic absorption, having a plug-in anode which is out of alignment with the cathode and a hollow cathode, placed in a glass bulb filled with inert gas, the cathode of length L and outer diameter D is made from oxidised aluminium and placed in the glass bulb, through the wall of which a discharge tube enters inside the cathode by a depth equal to 1/5D, said discharge tube having length 6/5L and diameter d less than the inner diameter of the cathode, with taps spaced apart on the length of the discharge chamber, and closed on the opposite side by a window made from uviol glass, wherein the anode lies in the glass tap closest to the uviol glass at a distance 1/3L from it, and a metallic vapour source, the spectrum of which needs to be obtained, lies in the other tap at a distance 1/2L from the output window.
EFFECT: longer service life of spectral lamps.
