METHOD OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF ARTERIOVENOUS MALFORMATION OF BRAIN Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2455949 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to neurosurgery. Superselective catheterisation of adducting AVM vessel, through which suspension of hepasheres is introduced, is carried out. In order to prepare suspension 5 ml of physiological solution and 5 ml of water-soluble contrasting substance are introduced into vial which contains 50 mg of dry hepasphere substance with initial size 50-100 mcm. After introducing suspension of hepaspheres into AVM compartment, washing of microcatheter with 20 ml of physiological solution with heparin, and after that 20 ml of 5% glucose solution is performed. Glue mixture of histoakryl with lipiodol is prepared in dilution from 1:3 to 1:4. Prepared mixture of histoakryl with lipiodol is introduced into AVM compartment through the same microcatheter and the same adducting vessel until fluoroscopic signs of retrograde mixture flow appear.

EFFECT: method increases degree of brain AVM embolisation reliability.
