METHOD OF HARDENING HOBBING Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC B23F11/00

Abstract RU 2457928 C1

FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: in hobbing, cylindrical worm is engaged with worm wheel. Note here that worm represents hob while workpiece makes worm wheel. Method comprises related rotary motions of workpiece and composite hob and hob tangential feed. Note here that said composite hob consists of body with its lengthwise slots accommodating cut-and-thrust racks secured therein. Thrust rack needle-type teeth composed of frieze bundles are made up of bars of metal wire interconnected by elastic body. Note here that needle-type tooth thickness exceeds that of cutting tooth by double interference. Note here that metal wire bars feature L-like shape with root radial position and bent part that makes needle tooth side surface.

EFFECT: expanded operating performances, higher efficiency and precision.
