FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises using composite worm hob made up of body with cutting and thrust racks secured in its lengthwise grooves. Larger-length hob is used for hobbing cutting teeth on half side of rack are used for roughing while those on other half are used for finishing, teeth on second half are needle-like composed of pile bunch of metal wire rods. Note here that bent sections of rods make side surface of needle tooth to act on machined workpiece tooth side surface and harden it. Note also that pitch thickness of needle tooth exceeds that of cutting tooth by double interference while cutting and thrust rack teeth are made with identical profile, height and thickness and located on one pitch diameter, that of vertices and sockets so that hob tooth consists of two profile edges.
